Since 2014, SpringHill Suites by Marriott has served the Bloomington community by personalizing guest experiences and ensuring full satisfaction upon each stay.

With its opportune location downtown, SpringHill Suites is a mere walk from iconic restaurants and shops found in Bloomington’s historic Courthouse Square. The hotel has partnered with many local businesses to offer special package deals, allowing guests to experience several Bloomington favorites during their stay including Switchyard Brewing Company, Board and Brush and Mother Bear’s Pizza. SpringHill Suites builds relationships with local Bloomington businesses not only to serve a variety of their guest’s interests, but also to support their community.

Through hard work and dedication, SpringHill Suites was this year’s recipient of the Marriott Select Brands (MSB) Diamond Circle Award. On top of maintaining a 5.0 excellence rate and positioning #1 out of the hotels in Bloomington on Trip Advisor, SpringHill Suites has been recognized and honored for their achievements among Marriott’s best team members, strongest managers and top performing hotels. MSB awards are based upon financial performance, guest satisfaction, quality assurance results and nominations received from general managers, management company representatives and other property staff.

Melanie Jarrett has been serving SpringHill Suites Bloomington as Director of Sales since March 2020 and has overcome various obstacles throughout her time. During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, for instance, Jarrett and her team members worked earnestly to adapt to the new climate and showcase their passion for the Bloomington community.

“We, here, at SpringHill Suites call it the ‘Spirit to Serve,’ because every day is like a party when a guest walks in because we are so excited to see them,” Jarrett said.

Melanie gave special thanks to Kirby Brown, who joined the team at the start of August as General Manager and made the group whole. Prior to hiring Kirby, three women under the age of 30 were challenged with running the hotel and handling multiple responsibilities amidst the pandemic. Their determination allowed them to maintain their 5.0 excellence rating in 2020.

“No matter how hard each day was, we continued to keep a smile on our face to continue executing service that our guests deserve. Our guests always come first,” Jarrett said. “We love welcoming Hoosiers and specializing guest experiences from the minute they walk in to the minute they check out.”

Brown recounted his favorite memory of working at SpringHill Suites, which was this year’s Welcome Week for Indiana University students. He spoke of the team’s happiness to see students and their families return to campus, as well as their desire to help make their stay as stress-free as possible so that they can focus on their time at IU.

Brown describes the hotel as being a “safe haven” for their guests.

“Clean, easy and comfortable is what we strive for,” Brown said. “I couldn’t tell you how many students find stabilization at SpringHill Suites. But we ensure that we deliver everything that our guests expect.”

After working side by side for months, Jarrett and Brown maintain that they owe much of their success to their dedicated team. Each SpringHill Suites employee brings a different asset towards providing the best quality of service for their guests, as this is their ultimate goal. They are extremely appreciated for their hard work.
