IU men’s soccer clinched the Big Ten regular season title Friday after its game against Maryland was canceled.

The title is the third straight for the Hoosiers, who went undefeated in conference play in 2018 and lost only one conference game in 2019.

IU will have the top seed for the Big Ten Tournament starting April 10 and will host each game it plays in. IU has also won back-to-back Big Ten tournaments and will look to win a third when the tournament starts.

“On the recommendation of its medical staff, Maryland made the decision to not play the game due to lack of healthy players available to compete, unrelated to COVID-19 positives,” IU Athletics said in a release.

The title is the Hoosiers’ 17th overall regular season conference title. IU has 14 tournament championships.

The Hoosiers were picked to win the Big Ten unanimously in a preseason coaches poll. They are 7-1 on the season, while second place Penn State is 6-1-1.
