Outgoing IU Provost Lauren Robel said in a Bloomington Faculty Council meeting Tuesday that IU is planning on including normal breaks for the 2021-22 school year.
She said an official decision by the university has not been made yet and she was unsure of when the dates of these breaks would be. Robel said she thinks fall break would be one day and spring break would be one week, which is similar to previous years before the COVID-19 pandemic.
There will also be a week-long Thanksgiving break, similar to the 2020-21 school year and previous school years.
Both fall and spring break were removed from the 2020-21 school year to minimize students traveling and spreading COVID-19. As a replacement for breaks, IU added three wellness days to the spring semester. Students said wellness days don’t serve as an equal replacement for spring break.
