After spending two weekends on the road at Iowa and Purdue, IU softball is officially back in Bloomington where it will take on Ohio State this weekend at Andy Mohr Field.

The first game will start at 4 p.m. Friday. A doubleheader will be played Saturday, with the first game at noon and the second game to follow at 2 p.m. The series will conclude at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Hoosiers are coming off of a huge series win against the Purdue Boilermakers, where they won three out of four games. Senior left fielder Gabbi Jenkins set IU’s career stolen bases record with her 91st last Saturday.

The Buckeyes dropped three of their last four games in a tough series against Michigan. During the second game of the series, Buckeyes senior pitcher Payton Buresch and Wolverines senior pitcher Meghan Beaubien each set the pace with three scoreless innings. The pitchers duel ended when Michigan sophomore outfielder Lexie Voss hit a two-run, two-out single to break the tie and make it 2-0. The Buckeyes rallied with two RBIs, one from junior outfielder Meggie Otte and the other from senior utility player Niki Carver, to take the lead. Michigan was retired in order the next two innings and Ohio State won 3-2.

IU needs to continue the momentum it had against Purdue. Senior pitcher Emily Goodin led the pitching staff and the Hoosiers offense came to life. IU scored 18 total runs against Purdue, its second-most runs scored in a series this season. IU registered 25 runs against Rutgers in its three-game series March 13-14 at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex in Leesburg, Florida.
