IU women’s basketball will participate in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, during Thanksgiving Break, according to a press release. The tournament will be played at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Hyatt resort.
After a historic season, IU returns all five starters from a 21-6 team that made it to the Elite 8. Notable names coming back for Teri Moren’s eighth season include All-Americans junior forward Mackenzie Holmes and senior guard Grace Berger. Graduate student Ali Patberg returns for her seventh and final season of collegiate eligibility as well.
IU will first face reigning national champion Stanford University on Nov. 25. This will be the third meeting between the Hoosiers and the Cardinal, who are coached by IU alumna Terry VanDerveer.
Stanford went 31-2 overall last season and will return four of its five leading scorers, including All-American junior guard Haley Jones and senior guard Lexie Hull.
IU will then face the University of Miami on Nov. 27. IU won the last meeting on Dec. 4, 2019, by a score of 58-45, but the all-time series is tied at 2-2.
The Hurricanes finished 11-11 overall and 8-10 in the ACC. Graduate student guard Kelsey Marshall, who led Miami with 13.2 points per game, and senior forward Destiny Harden return to play for Miami this coming season.
