Police responded to a false alarm Friday night at Bloomington High School North after a microphone or public address system pop was mistaken for gunshots.

The Bloomington Police Department said in a tweet that people at the school thought they heard gunshots but they did not find any threat to public safety.

"We responded to BHSN for a report of shots fired," a tweet posted to the BPD account said. "Officers located nothing and no victims. People at the school reported hearing no shots. It was possibly the PA system being tested. No threat was located. There is no threat to public safety."

Private security guard Devin Joyce said the incident was either a microphone or public address system popping.

No victims were injured, he said, despite initial social media posts about the situation.

The game kicked off at 7:40 p.m. after an initial delay for lightning, extended by police response.
