Recycling pickup in Bloomington will resume Monday after a short suspension due to a COVID-19-related staffing shortage, according to a city press release.
Bloomington residents can expect recycling to be picked up on their normal collection day, alongside their trash pickup. If recycled items cannot fit into their designated bin, the items can be placed into separate containers. Recycled items placed in plastic bags will not be collected.
Four workers in the Sanitation Division of the city’s Department of Public Works tested positive for COVID-19, and six workers were identified as close contacts. They were forced to quarantine, creating a staff shortage.
In total, the city government has reported 113 total cases among its employee force since the beginning of the pandemic. COVID-19 was also a listed cause of death for one city employee.
