Four fraternities were placed on cease and desist effective Dec. 16, according to Indiana University’s list of organizations on disciplinary status.

The fraternities added to the list were IU’s chapters of Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Phi Kappa Psi and Beta Theta Pi.

Cease and desist is an interim measure placed on chapters when there is an immediate threat or ongoing investigation, according to IU’s disciplinary status definitions. An organization under cease and desist must suspend all activities, including social activities, recruitment events and philanthropy events.
