IU and Phi Kappa Tau’s national council mutually agreed to close IU’s chapter of Phi Kappa Tau following an investigation into complaints regarding hazing, harassment and conduct related to academic dishonesty, according to an email from IU spokesperson Chuck Carney.
Carney said the chapter is eligible to return to campus in August 2026 if they meet IU requirements.
“This decision is in the interest of the health, safety, and wellbeing of the chapter members and the campus community,” Carney said in an email to the Indiana Daily Student.
Phi Kappa Tau was placed on cease and desist by IU on Nov. 11, according to IU’s list of organizations on disciplinary status.
