The National Weather Service declared a Tornado Watch until 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Severe weather is headed for Bloomington Friday evening, according to the NWS's Storm Prediction Center. That could include tornados and heavy rainfall.

The NWS previously issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook Friday morning. The NWS also said in their Friday morning report tornadoes are possible for central Indiana.

The service said the rainfall could produce flooding. Storms are likely to calm down by Saturday evening.

NWS Meteorologist David Beachler told the IndyStar this type of severe storm system is unusual during the winter months.

During tornados, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends sheltering in a room with no windows. This could be a basement or closet. The CDC strongly recommends against sheltering in a mobile home.
