Gallery Walk, a downtown Bloomington organization, will hold its monthly open gallery event from 5-8 p.m. next Friday, Feb. 4.
The event, occurring the first Friday of every month, recently added three new galleries for a total of 14 partner galleries. The event is free and open to the public.
The galleries, all located within a walkable distance of each other, will stay open past their normal hours to welcome more guests. Each will feature a special exhibit for nighttime patrons.
The three new galleries are Lotus Firebay Gallery, featuring a visual arts workshop on Aboriginal art, the I Fell Gallery, featuring art by Bloomington artist Neil Cain, and the John Waldron Arts Center, which will be closed for the Feb. 4 event and will open next month in March.
One returning gallery, By Hand Gallery, features art by local and regional artists, including painting, jewelry, pottery and wood work, among others. Their show for this month’s Gallery Walk is called “Stories from the Ancestors.”
Another returning exhibit is located at the Monroe Convention Center Art Gallery’s Ralph Rogers Room. Called “Wide Awake and Dreaming,” the show is by local artist Craig Barton.
