The City of Bloomington issued a precautionary boil water advisory for 58 addresses Wednesday after a utilities crew was dispatched to repair a damaged water main near the Edgewood Hills subdivision, according to a City of Bloomington press release. Water service was shut off for affected addresses, according to the release.
All affected addresses can be viewed at the City of Bloomington’s Utilities website.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management requires all public water systems to issue an advisory when water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch in the water main, according to the release.
The release provided these instructions for addresses affected by the advisory:
Immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run cold water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.
Boil all water used for drinking, cooking and oral hygiene for at least 5 minutes prior to consumption.
It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.
The advisory will last until Friday at 9 a.m.
