The City of Bloomington Utilities shut off water and issued a precautionary boil water advisory for 13 addresses Tuesday. Crews were sent to a broken water main at the intersection of East Southdowns Drive and East Circle Drive, according to a press release.
Customers can view a list of addresses affected at the CBU website. After water pressure is restored, those affected should run cold water until the water turns clear. Water should be boiled for five minutes prior to cooking, drinking or oral hygiene.
Indiana Department of Environmental Management requires that public water systems issue Boil Water Advisories following a drop in pressure below 20 pounds per square inch in the water main.
The advisory will remain in effect until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
