The Thrive campaign won the IU Student Government presidential and vice-presidential election, according to preliminary results from the IUSG Election Commission on Thursday morning.
Voting began at 10 a.m. Tuesday and closed 10 p.m. Wednesday. According to the IUSG Election Commission, Thrive received 1,289 votes while the Unite ticket received 786 votes. This means Thrive commanded 62.12% of the total 2,075 votes cast in the election.
The Thrive ticket features two sophomores: preliminary president Kyle Seibert and preliminary vice president Bell Pastore. Seibert currently serves as a resident assistant, while Pastore is a co-director of the IUSG First-Year Internship Program.
The election results now must be certified by the IUSG Supreme Court. According to the IUSG Bylaws, the deadline to file complaints is 48 hours after polls close, meaning 10 p.m. Friday.
