Phi Kappa Psi takes first in men’s Little 500 Team Pursuits

After a first-place finish at the men’s Little 500 qualification rounds, the Phi Kappa Psi cycling team secured a victory at the men’s Team Pursuits challenge Saturday.

During the first heat of the event, Novus Cycling finished with a time of 11:07.54 while McNutt Cycling finished with a time of 12.56.22. In the second heat, Sigma Chi Cycling recorded a 11:12:99 time compared to Sigma Nu’s 11:55:50.

In heat No. 4, Wild Aces Cycling and Phi Gamma Nu recorded times of 11:43.74 and 11:46.10, respectively. 3PH Cycling was the only team to compete in the sixth heat and finished 10:53.73.

Beta Theta Pi recorded a 10:56.52 time in the eighth heat. Following Beta in the same heat, Delta Upsilon finished with a time of 11:10.68. CSF Cycling Men finished in the 10th heat of the race with a time of 10:47.64, while Indiana University Dance Marathon Cycling finished with a mark of 10:45.68.

The 11th heat included reigning Little 500 champions JETBLACH, which recorded a time of 10:07.84. Lambda Chi Alpha finished with a time of 11:41.68. Alpha Sigma Phi raced in the 13th heat and posted a time of 10:43.98 through 15 total laps compared to Delta Sigma Pi’s 11.06.30 time. Beta Sigma Psi secured a time of 10:58.43 in the 14th heat.

Forest Cycling competed in the 16th heat and finished with a time of 10:35.86. Bears Cycling finished more than 13 seconds faster in the same heat with a 10:22.68 time. 

Sigma Phi Epsilon recorded the first time under 10 minutes in the 18th heat by finishing at the 9:51.68 mark. Phi Gamma Delta finished 10:13.02. Phi Kappa Psi recorded a 9:39.83 time in the 20th heat. Gray Goat recorded a 9:58.46 time in the same heat.

In the 22nd heat, Black Key Bulls and Phi Delta Theta came close together before the latter pulled away at the finish line. Phi Delta Theta finished with a time of 9:42.10, while Black Key Bulls came right behind with a time of 9:42.44.

Heat 23 included NEH Cycling and Delta SigKey Bulls, which posted times of 11:37.02 and 11:23.15, respectively. In the 25th heat, Forest Cycling 2 recorded a time of 11:20.03 time and 3PH 2 finished with a time of 11:26.14.

After the 25th heat, the IU Student Foundation announced that Phi Kappa Psi and Phi Delta Theta would compete in the Team Pursuit finals.

Phi Kappa Psi recorded a 09:32.96 time to defeat Phi Delta Theta by six seconds. Phi Delta Theta recorded a 09:38.12.

There will be a practice race on April 13 before the 71st Running of the Men's Little 500 at 2 p.m. on April 23.
