Former Indiana women’s basketball player Nicole Cardaño-Hilary signed a professional contract on Tuesday with IDK Euskotren in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain.
Cardaño-Hilary spent three seasons at George Mason University, where she won VaSID Rookie of the Year in 2018 and Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in 2019, along with being the program’s all-time leading scorer. She transferred to Indiana at the start of the 2020-2021 season and helped the Hoosiers to consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearances and 20-win seasons.
Cardaño-Hilary started 32 out of 33 games for Indiana during the 2021-2022 season and was named to the All-Big Ten defensive team, second team and All-Tournament team. She ended her collegiate career with 2,343 points and 319 steals.
The former Hoosier will return to her home country of Spain and compete against former teammate Aleksa Gulbe, who signed a pro contract with Perfumerías Avenida Salamanca earlier this summer. IDK Euskotren and Perfumerías Avenida have played a home-and-home series against each other every season since 2013.
