A person died after a crash involving a vehicle and a semi-truck on I-69 Southbound Tuesday morning, according to the Monroe County Sherrif’s Office.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident Tuesday morning at about 6 a.m. They found the driver had died from the injuries sustained in the crash.
According to the department, a witness driving near the crash said they were in the fast lane next to the other passenger car after passing a semi-truck. They told police three deer jumped onto the roadway, causing the passenger car to crash and spin into the roadway.
The semi-truck driver told police he came upon the vehicle sideways in the roadway with no lights. He stated he did not have time to stop and struck the vehicle.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s department is currently investigating the crash. Indiana State Police are also assisting with crash reconstruction.
