Jackson-Davis has received a plethora of preseason accolades thus far, including Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year, Preseason All-Big Ten Team and All-American honors from Associated Press, The Athletic, CBS Sports, Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, College Hoops Today and The Almanac.
Prior to the 2021-22 season, Jackson-Davis was also listed as a preseason candidate for the Karl Malone Award. He remained one of ten players eligible to win the award through February and was cut from the list when the NCAA announced five finalists in early March. Former Iowa forward Keegan Murray took home the honor of the nation’s top power forward in 2022.
Other Big Ten players also placed on the watch list include Iowa junior Kris Murray — Keegan's twin brother — and Maryland senior Donta Scott. Among Indiana's nonconference opponents, University of Arizona junior Azuolas Tubelis and University of North Carolina graduate student Pete Nance were also honored.
The Hoosiers will begin their season Saturday against Marian University in an exhibition game. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana.
