Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb was added to a list of Americans permanently banned from entering Russia.
Holcomb’s addition to the list was a response to the expansion of sanctions against individual Russian citizens, according to a Feb. 8 release from Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“In response to Washington’s continued expansion of the list of Russian citizens subject to personal sanctions, 77 Americans have been permanently banned from entering the Russian Federation,” Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in the release.

“Couldn't have received sweeter news on Valentine's Day, other than the gift of freedom and liberty to the Russian people living under Putin's oppressive reign,” Holcomb said on Twitter.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear was also added to the list of 1,344 people, along with other state and federal officials.
“I stand for freedom and against violence and oppression,” Beshear said on Twitter. “Being banned by Russia will not deter me from standing up for what is right.”
