With his ninth rebound in Indiana men’s basketball’s game against Iowa on Tuesday night, senior forward Trayce Jackson-Davis broke the program record, passing Alan Henderson.
The board, the 1,092nd of his career, came with 11:13 remaining in the second half. Jackson-Davis entered the game in third place in rebounds, four behind Walt Bellamy in second place and eight behind Henderson in first.
Henderson set Indiana’s rebound record in four years from 1991 to 1995. He also sits eighth in program scoring, fifth in steals and third in blocks.
Bellamy played for Indiana for three seasons from 1958 to 1961 and holds three of the top seven single-season rebound records, including a program-high 428 rebounds in the 1960-61 season. Bellamy also holds the top two single-game rebound numbers with a record of 33 in his final year.
Throughout his senior season, Jackson-Davis has repeatedly downed Indiana program records. He currently sits in fourth place in program history in scoring, having passed A.J. Guyton against Purdue on Saturday and his head coach, Mike Woodson, against Illinois on Feb. 18. At his current pace of 20.1 points per game, Jackson-Davis can pass Don Schlundt for third all-time in four games, which includes postseason play.
Against Minnesota on Jan. 25, Jackson-Davis blocked shot No. 228, passing Jeff Newton for first in the program’s record books. He is now up to 253 swatted shots in his career.
