Little 500 Spring Series event Miss N Out canceled due to high winds

After the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning Saturday, Miss N Out, an elimination-style competition, has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

“Rider safety is our top priority and with the nature of today’s event, it is the best interest of riders’ health to cancel,” the IU Student Foundation said in a message sent Saturday morning.

Miss N Out gauges the durability of riders, as participants are placed into heats and bikers have to avoid finishing last in all four laps to advance. Eventually, the field is whittled down until a champion is crowned on the men’s and women’s sides.

As a result, the Spring Series placement for teams will be based on results in Individual Time Trials, which took place last Wednesday, and Team Pursuits, which occur next Saturday. Spring Series includes events for riders to meet requirements, and rookie riders must participate in at least two of the events to be eligible to ride in the Little 500.

The Little 500 will take place April 21 and April 22. The women’s race is set for 4 p.m. April 21 with the men’s race beginning at 2 p.m. the following day.
