The project to renovate Wright Quadrangle is entering its first construction phase.

The first phase was supposed to be completed in the 2022-2023 school year, however IU delayed the project until this summer due to logistical issues, Stephen Massey, Wright Quadrangle's center desk assistant during the 2022-2023 school year said in an email. The project is planned in two construction phases because of the east and west sides of the quad being renovated separately, Massey said in the email.

The total budget for the project is $51,900,000 according to IU' s Capital Planning and Facilities website. The quad is planning to reopen in the fall of 2025

The project will involve upgrades to the facility’s building systems. This includes the installation of a central air conditioning system, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, electrical systems and a new emergency generator according to the website.

Upgrades to the residential wings will include new flooring, new ceilings, upgrades to selected kitchen equipment, restroom upgrades and window replacements. Along with the restroom upgrades, all-gender restrooms will be added to the building. A new accessible entrance and a new elevator will be added to the complex as well according to the website.
