Former Indiana softball pitcher Kate Rehberg announced Friday via social media that she is transferring as a graduate student to the University of Nothern Colorado — 11 days after entering her name into the transfer portal June 6.
Rehberg made 14 appearances across four seasons with the Hoosiers, pitching 13⅓ innings with a 12.29 earned run average. This past season, Rehberg entered the circle in four games, recorded 3⅔ innings and struck out two while allowing seven earned runs.
Rehberg is the first of three Hoosiers who put their names into the transfer portal that has found a new school. Freshmen infielder Taryn Kern and outfielder Elle Smith are currently in the portal after spending their rookie seasons with Team 50 this year.
Northern Colorado won the Big Sky Championship for the first time in program history in 2023, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bears were placed in the Seattle Regional and were eliminated after losing their first two games to the regional host University of Washington, as well as the University of Minnesota.
Rehberg plans to earn a Master of Business Administration at Northern Colorado.
