The Writers Guild at Bloomington will present IU alum and Chicago-based poet, Dina Elenbogen, from 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 23 at Morgenstern Books. The free event will focus on the poet’s most recently published work, “Shore.”
The collection of poems outlines times of mourning and times of healing. She wrote about family, nature, faith and community.
Elenbogen also wrote a poetry collection, “Apples of the Earth,” which was published in 2005. The book delves into the seemingly different worlds of America and Israel.
She wrote a memoir, “Drawn from Water: An American Poet, an Ethiopian Family, an Israeli Story,” about her experience with Ethiopian immigrants in Israel. The book was published in 2015.
Glass Lyre Press, an independent literary press in Illinois, published “Shore” in March 2023.
Multiple of her works have also been published in various magazines and anthologies.
Elenbogen received a bachelor's degree in English and a certificate in Jewish studies from Indiana University and an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. She now teaches creative writing at the Writer’s Studio at the University of Chicago Graham School.
