Glad Rags, Chicago psychedelic disco synth pop band, will perform Oct. 25 at The Bishop Bar. They’ll be joined by Bloomington rock bands The Matriarch and SYZYGY. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 to audience members ages 18 and up. Spooky Halloween attire is encouraged.

Glad Rags formed in 2015 and released their first few songs through a small Chicago label, Grandpa Bay Recordings.

They’ve also released three albums: “Glad Rags” in 2015, “Wonder Under” in 2018 and “All of Them” in 2021. Their latest release, the song “Suite for Aircon,” was released Sep. 22.

Two years after the band began, the project involved 10 collaborators. Founding member Mabel Gladly produces the band’s music, which mixes rock, jazz, soul and disco to create a psychedelic orchestral synth pop sound. Their music represents and combines sounds from the ‘70s to ‘90s.

Glad Rags’ songs often encompass human emotion and discuss communities and cultures.

While their studio projects involve many people, their live performances feature only the five original members.
