Indiana men’s and women’s basketball teams will commemorate Bob Knight throughout the duration of the 2023-24 season, per an IU Athletics release. The teams will don “RMK” patches — standing for his full name Robert Montgomery Knight — on home and away jerseys, starting Friday for the men’s exhibition against Marian University.
The legendary coach passed away Nov. 1 at 83 years old. He won three national championships, 11 Big Ten titles and 662 games in 29 seasons at Indiana.
There will be no planned public memorials from IU due to the family’s wishes. There will be a moment of silence observed before Friday’s game. Before the game, Indiana will feature selected quotes from former players, coaches, managers, staff and others on Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall’s video board.
Indiana football will observe a moment of silence before its game against Wisconsin on Saturday. The team will wear “RMK” decals on its helmets for the remainder of the season.
