Duke Energy reported a major power outage in northeast Bloomington around 10:30 p.m. Friday. According to the company’s outage map, nearly 2,000 customers near the intersection of East 10th Street and State Route 45 were without electricity as of 11:30 p.m. Friday.
While the cause of the issue has yet to be determined, the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for multiple cities in Indiana, including Bloomington, from around 7 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service advised that wind gusts could reach up to 50 miles per hour.
Duke estimates that power will be restored by about 4:45 a.m. Saturday.
