Eleven sorority residents report packages stolen over IU’s winter break

Crime Filler

IU Police Department is trying to identify two people caught on security cameras stealing packages from outside Sigma Delta Tau on Dec. 31.

Eleven residents of the sorority house reported packages stolen from their porch, IUPD Public Information Officer Hannah Skibba said.

IUPD posted photos of the suspects captured from security footage on X, formerly known as Twitter, Thursday.

Anyone with information about the suspects’ identities should contact Detective Cartwright at (812) 856-7139.

Skibba offered several tips students should follow to prevent package theft. First, she said students can register a signature for delivery meaning the package will never be left unattended. She also said students can opt to pick up packages from local FedEx, UPS and USPS offices. Finally, she said students should sign up for delivery alerts and, if they are not home during the delivery, ask a trusted friend to pick up the package.
