Indiana football announced it will hold its Spring Game at 8 p.m. April 18 at Memorial Stadium, according to its post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday night. Player warm-ups will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Under newly hired head coach Curt Cignetti, the Hoosiers will play their first true Spring Game since 2019. The 2020 and 2021 iterations were cancelled because of COVID-19 before then-head coach Tom Allen decided against playing a Spring Game in 2022 to prevent the game from being scouted by Illinois — who Indiana opened its season against.
While there was a spring football Saturday event in 2023, it featured an hour-long scrimmage alongside an open practice — not the typical four-quarter scrimmage.
Ahead of Cignetti’s first season at the helm, the Hoosiers will play their spring game just two days prior t the 73rd running of the men’s Little 500.
In nearly two months on the job, Cignetti has compiled a roster of numerous transfers — headlined by former Ohio University quarterback Kurtis Rourke. Junior receiver Donaven McCulley and redshirt sophomore running back Trent Howland withdrew from the portal to rejoin the Hoosiers.
The Spring Game will give the Hoosier faithful a glimpse of the new-look Indiana football squad they’ll see on the gridiron Aug. 31 against Florida International University at Memorial Stadium.
