This weekend in Bloomington there’s something for everyone looking to enjoy some local music. Catch a jazz quartet, a punk showcase, an intimate acoustic set and local country and western all in three days.
Here’s what shows to catch from Jan. 25-27:
Thursday
To kick off the weekend, IU Auditorium hosts ‘An Evening with Branford Marsalis’ at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25. The three-time Grammy Award-winning saxophonist will be joined by the Brandon Marsalis Quartet for a night of classical music and jazz. Tickets are still available on the IU Auditorium website.
At The Bluebird Nightclub, Clayton Mullen, a Bloomington?? country artist, will headline withcountry artist Jake Doddsopening at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $15 and this show is 21+.
Friday
From 7-9:30 p.m. Jan. 26, acoustic quartet Hummingbird and The Beating Hearts alongside alt-rock musician Wise John will perform an intimate set at The Orbit Room. This event is open to all-ages and tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Those under 4 are admitted for free.
At The Bluebird Nightclub, local band Backyard Function will take the stage at 9 p.m. Tickets are available for those who are 21+ on their website for $10.
Indy punk favorite Pat and The Pissers will perform at 10:30 p.m. at The Bishop Bar alongside Pottymouth, Full Stride and Youth in Asia. Admission is $10 and this event is 21+.
Saturday
At 9 p.m. Jan. 27 at The Bluebird Nightclub, the popular Fleetwood Mac tribute band Back 2 Mac will take the stage and recreate the sound of the iconic band and cover some of their greatest hits. Tickets are $15 and this event is 21+.
From 7-10 p.m. at The Orbit Room country rock artists Gravy Bird and Leory McQueen & The Vatos Supreme with Lexi Len will perform. Pre-sale tickets are available for $10, and tickets can also be bought at the door for $12 this is an all ages event.
At 8 p.m., The Blockhouse is hosting their Blues Showcase highlighting three local blues bands.
