Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall was evacuated due to a fire alarm with 10:06 remaining in the second half of the Indiana men’s basketball’s game against Wisconsin on Tuesday night. The Bloomington Fire Department issued an all clear and allowed fans to re-enter the building shortly after departing.
"It was determined a fire alarm went off in the balcony," IU Athletics said in a press release. "Emergency management officials stationed in the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall Command Center followed state law and evacuated the arena for the safety and well-being of everyone in attendance. Once it was determined there was no immediate threat, everyone was allowed back in the building."
Alarms rang over the speakers, but the game continued for several seconds before being paused. The players were sent to the tunnel during the evacuation and were given five minutes to warm up upon returning.
The Hoosiers and Badgers were tied at 54 when play was paused.
