Indiana men’s basketball added another piece to its 2023-24 roster, receiving a commitment Saturday from Stanford University transfer freshman guard Kanaan Carlyle, he announced via Instagram. Carlyle ranks 10th in On3’s transfer portal rankings and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Carlyle’s official visit with the Hoosiers spanned from April 19-21.

The former 4-star recruit from Atlanta, Georgia, averaged 11.5 points and 2.7 assists per game in 23 games for the Cardinal this season. He shot 38.6% from the field and 32% from 3-point range.

Carlyle, who stands 6-foot-3, was named an All-Pac-12 Freshman Team honorable mention following the season. A 28-point, eight-rebound performance against the University of Arizona on December 31 earned him an Associated Press National Player of the Week honor January 2.

With the addition of Carlyle, Indiana has now added three players from the portal, including Washington State University guard Myles Rice and University of Arizona center Oumar Ballo.
