The Chicago indie group Ratboys play at 9 p.m. at The Bishop Bar to promote its fourth album “The Window,” which received an 8/10 review by Pitchfork. They are opened by Ducks Ltd., a Toronto-based rock band who will play hits from its new album “Harm’s Way.” This show is 18+ and you can purchase tickets for $18 in advance or $20 at the door.
Booze Cruise, a local cover band, will take the stage at 9 p.m. at The Bluebird Nightclub. Tickets are $5 for this 21+ event.
Friday
Indianapolis-based indie band Cliffs will perform at 8 p.m. at The Blockhouse. Tickets are $15 at the door for this 21+ show.
Local country musician Hank Ruff will perform at 9 p.m. at The Bluebird Nightclub. Tickets are $10 for this 21+ show.
Saturday
It’s finally time for this year’s WIUX Culture Shock Music Festival showcasing local musicians from 1-10 p.m. at Dunn Meadow. The festival is IU’s longest-running music festival and is free to everyone. Headlining the festival are local and student-led bands Prairie Scout, Callejera, Ed Winn, Westhead, Merce Lemon, Tagabow and Evan Wright.
Tommy Prine will perform at 8:30 p.m. at The Bishop. Tickets are sold out, but you can contact the box office about a waitlist. Prine’s debut album “This Far South” will be released June 23, and he will be joined by lead guitarist and musical director Jason Wilber.
Six Foot Blonde will perform an acoustic show with Mile a Minute at 6 p.m. at The Orbit Room. Tickets are $10 for this event.
Hairbangers Ball, an 80s tribute act, will bring back the decade of decadence at 9 p.m. at The Bluebird Nightclub. Tickets are $15 for this 21+ event.
Sunday
The second annual Burning Couch festival, a student-powered music festival showcasing local independent artists, will begin at 11 a.m. at Switchyard Park. Tickets and merchandise are available on their website.
