Indiana football continued its transfer portal activity Wednesday, securing a commitment from former Kent State University defensive tackle CJ West, who announced his decision via X, formerly known as Twitter.
The 6-foot-2, 315-pound West enjoyed a breakthrough 2023 season at Kent State, recording 40 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks en route to third-team All-Mid-American Conference honors.
Across four seasons with the Golden Flashes, West collected 110 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks in 39 appearances.
West, a native of LaGrange Park, Illinois, was graded as the ninth-best defensive tackle in college football last season, according to Pro Football Focus. He saw no shortage of interest after entering the portal April 16, receiving offers from Michigan, Wisconsin, Louisiana State University and Texas A&M University, among several others.
Since finishing spring ball April 18, the Hoosiers have emphasized adding to the interior of their defensive line, with West joining James Madison University transfer Tyrique Tucker as newly acquired big bodies.
