Indiana track and field had 16 entries competing across 12 events in the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 22-25.

The field had 48 athletes or 24 relay teams across each event, with the meet serving as a NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifier.

On the opening day, three Hoosiers earned their bid to the national championships.

Junior Sean Mockler’s seventh place toss of 66.66 meters in the men’s hammer throw earned him the qualifying mark for his second trip to the national meet.

In the men’s pole vault, junior Tyler Carrel cleared 5.42 meters to battle out of a four-way tie and advance for the second time in his career. He finished 12th.

Graduate student Skylar Stidham earned fifth place in the men’s 10,000-meter run in 29:14.79 to make his first appearance at the national championships.

On the third day of the meet, Indiana added an additional athlete to its qualifiers. In the men’s 800-meter run, junior Camden Marshall placed third and set a new school record of 1:45.48. He shaved nearly two seconds off his qualifying time for the quarterfinals of 1:47.32.

The National Championships take place in Eugene, Oregon, at Hayward Field from June 5-8.
