Your Monroe County Democratic Party will hold its annual Roosevelt Reception on May 22, 2024 at Switchyard Pavilion. In 2022, MCDP renamed our Spring event to honor not only the legacy of FDR’s founding of the modern Democratic Party, but also Eleanor Roosevelt’s voice as a global citizen and fighter for human rights.

In 1950, the former First Lady visited Indiana University to make her case for the role of the citizen in global affairs. We honor that speech and her inspiration for everyday Hoosiers to pursue human rights for all.

First, come meet the municipal candidates at our Cocktail Hour starting at 6pm!

This year we welcome for our annual Eleanor Roosevelt Keynote speaker, Dr. Amrita Chakrabarti Myers, a history professor at Indiana University who specializes in the Black female experience in the U.S. and the intersectionality between race, gender, and freedom.

The Roosevelt Reception has become Bloomington’s spring political event to gear up for the General election, and to reassert our voice in state and national affairs. We honor our sustaining donors to the Four Freedoms Circle, and highlight good stories in our turbulent political times.

Sponsorships start at $250, with full tables at $1000. You will assure we keep our town "Bluemington" for the terms to come and to to turn this around this election for our region.

I hope to see you on May 22! Let's pull it together and get to work!

Democratically Yours,

David
