Indiana rowing concluded the season with a No. 15-place national finish Sunday at the 2024 NCAA Rowing Championships at East Fork State Park in Bethel, Ohio.
Indiana’s Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four all competed in the C finals, meaning the team was guaranteed a national placement ranging from 13th to 18th.
The V8 group earned Indiana’s best finish Sunday, placing second behind the University of Virginia in the finals. Indiana held the lead for most of the race, but Virginia stole the victory in the end, outlasting the Hoosiers by only 1.272 seconds.
The Hoosiers’ V8 ended with a No. 13 national finish, marking the boat’s best performance since placing 12th in 2018. The group finished the 2024 season with a 33-11 record after a 10-4 performance in the NCAA Championships.
In its final, Indiana’s 2V4 finished fourth to capture a 16th-place finish nationally, and the V4’s fifth-place result earned it a 17th-place finish in the country.
Indiana's 47 points and overall No. 15 national finish is its best since 2019 in which it earned 12th.
The Hoosiers’ season ends with several accolades, headlined by a program-record second-place finish at the Big Ten Championships. Indiana head coach Steve Peterson was awarded Big Ten Co-Coach of the Year and V8 rower Nico Daly was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
