Happy Pride Month, from your Monroe County Democratic Party! Let’s use this month to educate ourselves on the often erased and overlooked history within the LGBTQ+ community, and to always be allies to our LGBTQ+ brothers, sisters, and siblings.
In a state controlled by Republicans—who are known for targeting our most marginalized communities—it’s especially important to advocate for the advancement of LGBTQ+ rights within our community, and to recognize and find solutions to the harsh realities our transgender siblings and LGBTQ+ people of color often experience.
From the ground to the Statehouse and beyond, we as Democrats in Monroe County must remain fighters for progress toward inclusion and equity.

Party and Constituency Caucus Events
Mark your calendars! Join your MCDP at the upcoming Bloomington 4th of July Parade.
Our annual entry for the Bloomington 4th of July parade needs you! Join MCDP, candidates, and supporters by marching at this year’s event. We have an early entry in the parade and will be gathering in the “BLUE” staging area on Madison St. between 10th and 11th, along the west side of The Mill.
The 2023 Parade will begin at 10am at the corner of 10th & College. The route will go down College to Kirkwood, pass the reviewing stand on Kirkwood going to Walnut, and return up Walnut to 10th and back to College. The MCDP will have a truck and a trailer for those unable to walk the route, and is looking forward to being joined by our local candidates, office holders, and lots of enthusiastic supporters.
Roads of the parade route and around the staging areas will close at 8:00am. Nearby roads are likely to be congested so arriving near 7:30 is advised. Pets are strongly discouraged. There will be cold water!
TIMING:
7:30am - Marchers begin to assemble
8am - Streets near staging area close, all vehicles must arrive beforehand
9am - Marchers must be assembled
10am - Parade starts
12pm - Approximate end of parade
Candidates and office holders! You are the reason for the Democratic Party, so you should march with us in the 4th of July Parade! Come with your supporters - and with two yards signs which we will put on our truck display.

Join Your MCDP at this year’s Monroe County Fair! Our team is hosting a booth for you to visit with candidates, play a round of Cornhole, and lean back in lawnchairs as we take it easy at this annual event.

Dr. Valerie McCray’s Senate Campaign is hosting a launch party in Indianapolis on Friday, June 14 from 6-9pm. Join them as they kick off their post-primary action toward beating radical Republican Jim Banks for U.S. Senate and flipping the seat blue!
All are welcome to attend; minimum donations are $100 per ticket.
Dinner will be served at 7pm.

Juneteenth Celebration

Join community members at Switchyard Park for the unveiling of the first Monroe County African American Culture Sites marker! It will acknowledge the Black Underground Railroad conductors that lived and worked in Bloomington who often go unseen in history books.
There will also be a live stage performance depicting the origins of Juneteenth by Resilience Productions.
This event is free for all community members!

Hoosier Women Forward - Applications are Now Open

The Hoosier Women Forward are looking for members to join their seventh class! This organization links Democratic women leaders with networking opportunities to elevate them into leadership roles in the private, public, and non-profit sectors.
