Strategy Session on Rural Outreach
Saturday, June 15, 3:30-5:30pm
Ellettsville Public Library, Rooms A/B | 600 W Temperance St, Ellettsville, IN 47429
In collaboration with the Rural Democrats of Monroe County, and spearheaded by State Senate candidate Michelle Higgs and MCDP Deputy Chair for Rural Engagement Ryan Still, we will host a volunteer callout and strategy session on rural outreach.
This will be an educative event on how to activate rural voters in the region to boost Democratic candidates like Michelle Higgs, whose district is heavily rural.
During this workshop, you'll learn why narrative is important for creating change and winning campaigns, the elements of powerful narrative communications, and you’ll have the opportunity to workshop your own communications.

Party and Constituency Caucus Events
Mark your calendars! Join your MCDP at the upcoming Bloomington 4th of July Parade.
Our annual entry for the Bloomington 4th of July parade needs you! Join MCDP, candidates, and supporters by marching at this year’s event. We have an early entry in the parade and will be gathering in the “BLUE” staging area on Madison St. between 10th and 11th, along the west side of The Mill.
The 2024 Parade will begin at 10am at the corner of 10th & College. The route will go down College to Kirkwood, pass the reviewing stand on Kirkwood going to Walnut, and return up Walnut to 10th and back to College. The MCDP will have a truck and a trailer for those unable to walk the route, and is looking forward to being joined by our local candidates, office holders, and lots of enthusiastic supporters.
Roads of the parade route and around the staging areas will close at 8:00am. Nearby roads are likely to be congested so arriving near 7:30am is advised. Pets are strongly discouraged. There will be cold water!
TIMING:
7:30am - Marchers begin to assemble
8am - Streets near staging area close, all vehicles must arrive beforehand
9am - Marchers must be assembled
10am - Parade starts
12pm - Approximate end of parade
Candidates and office holders! You are the reason for the Democratic Party, so you should march with us in the 4th of July Parade! Come with your supporters - and with two yards signs which we will put on our truck display.
For more information about joining the parade and lending a hand, please contact Ed Robertson at volunteer@monroedems.org, and fill out this sign-up sheet here.

Thank you to our Four Freedoms Circle donors who contribute monthly to MCDP! In January 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt first spoke of the FOUR FREEDOMS in his state of the Union address. He proposed four fundamental freedoms that people everywhere in the world should enjoy: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom From Want, and Freedom From Fear. Our belief in the Four Freedoms is fundamental to our identity as Democrats. In much the same way, our sustaining donors – those who choose to support the Monroe County Democratic Party through ongoing, monthly gifts – are fundamental to the work we do every single day. When you choose to make monthly gifts through ActBlue, our online giving portal, you provide critical support for the infrastructure, space, and staff on which we rely in all our work.
