The Indiana Memorial Union’s Summer Outdoor Movie Series has three movies scheduled at the Hamilton Lugar School Lawn. These movies will be shown on select Thursdays during the summer.
The IMU will show the 2024 “Mean Girls” on June 6, “The Goonies” on June 27 and “IF” on July 25.
“Mean Girls” (2024), directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr., is the newest spin on the 2004 cult classic. Starring Renee Rapp, Angourie Rice and Christopher Briney, this movie takes aspects of both the original movie and its Broadway musical adaptation. “Mean Girls” is catered to those who adore the original film written by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters, and those who are musical fanatics. This movie is rated PG-13.
Stephen Spielberg’s “The Goonies" is an 80’s classic that grossed $64.5 million worldwide at the time of its release, according to IMDb. This movie is targeted to adventurous kids and those who want a taste of their childhood. “The Goonies” is rated PG and stars Corey Feldman, Josh Brolin and Sean Astin.
“IF” is a family-friendly movie directed by “The Office” star, John Krasinski, and is the most recent release of the series. The movie has grossed well over $137.7 million worldwide since its release on May 19 according to IMDb. It highlights imaginary friends and brings them to life on the big screen. “IF” has a star-studded cast including Ryan Reynolds, Emily Blunt, Steve Carell and Awkwafina. This movie is rated PG.
Movie-goers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks for their experience.
The event is free to the public with each movie beginning at 9 p.m. and lasting until 11 p.m.
