The Monroe County Public Library Southwest Branch reopened Monday, after closing over five months ago due to flood damage from a burst exhaust vent in January.
While the MCPL initially stated the repairs would take three to four weeks, “substantial damage” increased the restoration time, according to an update in April. The branch first announced the plans to reopen in May.
The Southwest Branch began accepting returns and public reservations for meetings and study rooms Monday. It will begin accepting reservations for the teaching kitchen Aug. 1.
All MCPL branches will be closed Thursday for Fourth of July, according to its website. A Downtown Branch employee confirmed via phone the libraries are not affected by the “government wide server outage” that closed many county government offices Monday and Tuesday.
