Bloomington, Ind. – The City of Bloomington’s Economic and Sustainable Development (ESD) department is taking proactive steps to combat the growing threat of extreme heat due to climate change with the launch of the Bloomington Community Heat Survey. From July 1st to August 1st, 2024, all residents are invited to participate in this crucial initiative aimed at developing a comprehensive Extreme Heat Action Plan for the city. Residents can access the survey by visiting bton.in/qsvVS or scanning the QR code below.
The 10-minute survey is designed to gather valuable insights into how heat waves impact different neighborhoods and residents across Bloomington. This information will be instrumental in identifying areas most in need of cooling strategies and resources and will help guide the implementation of effective solutions such as tree plantings and green infrastructure.
The survey is available online and ensures all responses are anonymous and confidential. Respondents may skip questions or withdraw at any time. Residents who complete the survey will have the option to enter a drawing for a $20 gift card as a token of appreciation. There is no cost to participate.
The Bloomington Community Heat Survey is part ESD’s larger heat mitigation and resilience campaign called “Stay Cool Bloomington!”.
