BLOOMINGTON, IND. – The City of Bloomington’s Planning and Transportation Department is calling on residents to provide feedback on initial safety and improvement concepts for Indiana Ave. This initiative comes in response to concerns raised through a community survey, which gathered input from about 250 people about improving Indiana Ave. According to the survey, only 43% of residents feel safe along the Indiana Avenue corridor and less than 20% of bicyclists express a sense of safety.

The project aims to address these safety concerns through two proposed concepts:

  • Convert one motor vehicle lane into a protected bike lane
  • Convert the road from East Atwater Avenue through East 10th Street into a two-way street

Residents can complete a feedback form regarding these proposed concepts via an online survey at bton.in/inave. The survey will remain open until Sun, Aug. 4.

The third public meeting for further design review and feedback will take place on Tues, Aug. 13, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sample Gates.

For more information, contact the Planning and Transportation Department at 812-349-3423 or visit the City of Bloomington’s project web page at bton.in/inave.
