The City of Bloomington released its proposed budget for 2025, now available for public review ahead of budget hearings with the City Council. The hearings begin Monday, Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m. and will continue each evening through Thursday, Aug. 29 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 N Morton Street.
The 2025 budget proposal includes several initiatives that align with the administration and cabinet’s one-year goals. These priorities include an overhaul of the City’s Human Resources strategy; development of action plans addressing community priorities such as housing, street homelessness, and economic development; transparency and engagement efforts; long-term budgeting and financial strategies; major project execution; annexation planning; and modernization of internal processes.
“Our budget must both represent our values and support our vision for Bloomington,” said Mayor Thomson. “This year’s budget is critical to building toward what our community needs. Our focus is on doing the right work, doing it well, and being diligent with our budget and respectful of the resources we are entrusted with. We are committed to continuous improvement, making certain that our government truly serves and reflects the needs of our community.”
