Party and Caucus News
Your MCDP is happy to share with you the launch of the Indiana Rural Summit of 2024, featuring Southern Indiana Democratic candidates for State House (candidates running to represent Monroe Co. are bolded):
● HD46 Kurtis Cummings [Vigo/Clay/Owen/Monroe Counties]
● HD47 Michael Potter [Johnson/Shelby Counties]
● HD60 Michelle Higgs [Monroe/Morgan/Johnson Counties]
● HD62 Thomas Horrocks [Monroe/Brown Counties]
● HD63 Teresa Kendall [Davies/Martin/Pike/Dubois Counties]
● HD66 Jennifer David [Scott/Jefferson/Clark Counties]
● HD69 Trish Whitcomb [Bartholomew/Jackson/Scott/Washington Counties]
● HD70 Sarah Blessing [Harrison/Floyd/Clark/Washington Counties]
● HD73 Hollie Payton [Shelby/Bartholomew/Decatur/Jennings Counties]
The purpose of the Rural Summit is to engage disheartened voters who feel left behind by their representatives. In a state with low voter turnout, our candidates hope to drive up electoral engagement from our rural communities and to offer messages of hope that progress is possible when we come together in the fight against the Indiana General Assembly’s dangerous agenda.
They’re kicking off their tour at Jasper, IN’s Strassenfest parade on August 4 at 1pm (see more information about the event here), featuring gubernatorial candidate Jennifer McCormick and AG candidate Destiny Wells.
For more information about the Indiana Rural Summit and their kickoff, please read their press release here. Contact your MCDP Deputy for Rural Engagement Ryan Still for more information at press@indianaruralsummit.org.
