One woman was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after being struck by a car at Brown County Dragway, an eighth-mile racetrack, on Saturday, according to the Brown County Sheriff's Office. Two men were also hit, but Detective Sergeant Josh Stargell said Tuesday he was unsure if they were injured.

The car was doing a burnout, in which a driver spins the rear wheels while keeping the rest of the car stationary, when it lost control, according to Stargell. The three spectators hit were standing on the inside of the track guard rail.

A Morgan County first responder already working at the drag strip was the first to respond to the incident. An ambulance was called, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 3:32 p.m., according to Stargell.

The accident took place during the drag strip’s biggest event of the year, War in the Woods. This year was the 11th iteration of the event, which is billed on the event Facebook page as “the wildest most exciting no prep race in the country.” War in the Woods was held at Brown County Dragway in Morgantown, Indiana, and races took place Sep. 13-14.
