IU Cinema will screen a 73-minute compilation of cat videos pulled from the internet to raise money for animal welfare groups during CatVideoFest from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday.
CatVideoFest, an organization committed to raising both awareness and money, has teamed up with local cat charities, animal welfare organizations and shelters to help raise money for animals requiring additional resources. Since 2019, CatVideoFest screenings have raised over $150,000 for shelters around the world. This year it has raised $30,000 to benefit local charities. More details on the event can be found on Visit Bloomington’s website.
This year, the IU Cinema’s screening of CatVideoFest will support the Monroe County Humane Association. The organization has helped animals in Monroe County and surrounding areas since 1956. It provides pet food for community members and operates a supply pantry, accessible community veterinary clinic and monthly mobile vaccine clinics. More information on MCHA is available on its website.
The event is only available to watch in theaters, but anyone is welcome to attend. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased on IU Cinema’s website.
