Breaking News Filler

About 240 Duke Energy customers just south of campus were without power Tuesday night for about two hours, according to Duke's outage map.

A Duke spokesperson said a tree fell on a power line. Duke originally estimated power would be restored at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, but as of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, no Bloomington outages were on the company’s map.

The area affected was centered around Woodlawn Avenue up to Atwater Avenue and down to University Street. It extended west almost to South Fess Avenue and east almost to South Ballantine Road.

The Duke spokesperson said that 240 customers represent the number of accounts impacted. A customer can include businesses, homes, apartments and other buildings.

The first reports came in at 8:47 p.m., according to Duke.

This article was updated to reflect that power was restored.
