How to find your perfect Sunday breakfast in Bloomington

entsundaybrunch091224

Picture this: You wake up Sunday morning to a grumbling stomach, tired legs and groggy eyes. You have no desire to cook breakfast but are unsure what local restaurant could satisfy your cravings. If you don’t know where to get breakfast on a Sunday morning, check out this quick guide.

Parlor Donuts

If you think a sugary dessert can wash away your Sunday blues, I suggest stopping by Parlor Donuts. Parlor specializes in cronuts, which have a base made of croissant-like flakey layers. They offer over 25 flavors of donuts including exotic flavors like dreamsicle, turtle cheesecake and raspberry pistachio. For only $4, you can ensure your Sunday begins on a sweet note.

Uptown Cafe

If you wake up on Sunday morning longing for a sophisticated and high-quality breakfast, you should consider brunch at the Uptown Cafe. While the establishment does not accept weekend reservations, I encourage you to wait for a table, because it only serves brunch on the weekends. The weekend menu includes smoked salmon benedict, eggs Sardou, crème brûlée French toast and Denver omelet.

Gables Bagels

If you are looking for a quick but hearty Sunday breakfast, I recommend ordering a bagel sandwich from Gables Bagels. While the shop may be busier on the weekend, the taste of a fresh bagel on a Sunday morning is worth the wait. My favorite order is simple: a plain bagel with sausage, egg and cheddar cheese. However, you can always try something more exciting like the jalapeño popper sandwich which contains bacon, eggs, cheddar cheese and jalapeño bacon cheddar cream cheese on an asiago bagel.

Village Deli

If you are hungry for a large breakfast and wish for relaxing scenery, I recommend starting your Sunday morning at the Village Deli. The establishment serves typical diner foods including large pancakes that are the size of a breakfast plate. The lemon blueberry poppyseed pancake is currently this season’s special pancake. Although, if you want a savory breakfast, you might consider ordering their breakfast burrito, huevos rancheros or corned beef hash.

Bedrak Cafe

If you wake up Sunday morning and feel like your weekend’s fruit and vegetable intake was particularly low, I suggest stopping by Bedrak Cafe to find a nutritious Sunday morning meal. The cafe offers avocado toast, breakfast tacos, a green super smoothie bowl and a wide variety of omelets. You can also pair your meal with one of their many specialty juices including flavors like “Berrylicious” and “Tropical Envy”.

Sundays may be challenging, but a good breakfast can go a long way. Stop by one of these restaurants next Sunday to guarantee a positive start to the new week.
