The Coffee Beanery franchise will open its first Indiana location at 5 a.m. Friday at 228 S. Grant Street in downtown Bloomington, according to the group’s Facebook page.
Coffee Beanery is a coffee shop that offers a variety of coffee-based beverages, smoothies, teas, pastries, sandwiches and more. The pastries will all be made in-house, with the exception of locally sourced donuts.
The store general managers, Camryn Elizabeth and Mohammed Baig, said they plan to create an environment for college students to study and socialize by providing board games and events including karaoke nights and open mic nights.
They said once open, the store’s hours of operation will be 5 a.m. to midnight every day, with plans to have daily discounts and offers for customers. Customers can place orders online or in-store at the registers or kiosks, Baig said.
“How would we feel if we wanted to walk into this place?” Elizabeth said. “That’s kind of what we’re creating.”
According to the prices on Coffee Beanery’s app for the Shelby Township location, grande sized coffee and espresso beverages range from $2.95 to $5.95 and breakfast and lunch sandwiches range from $7.95 to $11.95.
Founded in the 1970s, Coffee Beanery began as a family coffee shop in Michigan and now has over 100 locations around the world. Julius and JoAnne Shaw, the founders of Coffee Beanery, wanted a coffee shop that created specialty coffees for everyone to enjoy, according to the company’s website.
Coffee Beanery plans to host a grand opening event from Nov. 8-10 to promote the store and provide customers with events and activities.
